Words and works.

Website Redux

It's been over two years since we started Evenhouse Consulting, Inc. and, well, it was time to update our tired, old web site.

The old site was built with the Drupal content management system. Drupal is a great open-source system that allowed us to put our site up quickly but it was overkill for our needs. And we wanted to build something new. Yes, we are slaves to the new.

The new site is built with the Django web application framework. We used the Blueprint CSS framework as a basis for styling and layout of the site. The Blog does not yet allow comments but we expect to add commenting when we have some time to address the comment spam issue that plagues so many blogs. Use our contact form to say hello and let us know what you think!

Our aim was to make the site simple, useful, accessible, and easy to maintain. The Django framework enabled us to meet these challenges. Since we couldn't decide on just one color scheme we made the option configurable with a little javascript magic. Click one of the little boxes at the bottom left of the page to check out a couple of other color scheme options.

We kept some old content on the site that seemed to be a little bit useful since it consistently still gets visited according to Google Analytics. Watch for new posts and especially news about products we have in the pipeline that we're excited about.

A side benefit of building out this new site is that I get to use the word "redux" in this post title! I dedicate this post to John Updike, author of Rabbit Redux, who is responsible for my first exposure to the word.
